Battery monitoring

Hey

Could someone tell me what the hell is going on? Charging this phone on comp. said it was 100%. Took battery out, waited a bit, plugged it back in and it was 87%. Turned phone on and it read 61%. Took battery out again, waited 'bout 5 mins, installed battery, plugged it back in to charge and it read 87%. OK, I'm baffled
